The Team
Our team consists of Dr. Jessie Colpoys, an Assistant Professor at Truman State University, and undergraduate research assistants pursuing a variety of interests and research areas within animal science.

Dr. Jessie Colpoys
Assistant Professor
Jessie is an Assistant Professor in Agricultural Science at Truman State University. She teaches courses in animal science and conducts research on animal production, behavior, and welfare. Jessie completed her PhD in Animal Physiology at Iowa State University focusing on swine feed efficiency, behavior, and welfare.
Chloe Shoulders
Undergraduate Research Assistant
Chloe is an undergraduate student in Agricultural Science at Truman State University. Chloe is assisting with multiple ongoing studies including validation of a dog activity monitor and qualitative analysis of survey data evaluating student perceptions of assistance animals.

Monique was funded by the McNair program to investigate student perceptions of emotional support and service animals.
Gabe Ditch

Gabe assisted with research on pig sickness behavior, specifically focusing on vocalizations of pigs infected with PRRS.
Nick Gordon

Nick was funded through Truman State University's Grants in aid of Scholarship and Research program to study sickness behavior in pigs.

Meg was funded through Truman State University's Grants in aid of Scholarship and Research program to study alternative measures of stress in dogs.
Allie Kelsey

Allie was funded by the TruScholars program to investigate how dietary probiotic supplementation impacts cattle feed efficiency and stress behavior.
